The Volkl Blaze 86 skis are a prime example of a light, energetic and poppy ski that will literally go wherever you point it. It sounds narrow, especially when compared to its 106 mm brethren, but it wasn’t that long ago that 86 mm underfoot seemed like a powder-only type of ski. And that was before rocker and taper were even commonplace, so rest assured, you’re still getting some good float out of the 86’s. Built with Volkl’s Hybrid Multi-Layer wood core, the skis feature a blend of wood stringers, varying up the densities and weight, allowing Volkl to create the perfectly tuned ski for the intended conditions and terrain that most skiers are likely to encounter out there on the hill. Probably one of the best mogul and tree skis out there on the market today, the Volkl Blaze 86 is lightning-quick from edge-to-edge, allowing the skier to get from one turn to the next with minimal issues and maximum speed. Even without a metal laminate, these skis remain pretty darn stable and damp, mostly thanks to the Suspension tips and tails. Volkl adds their rubber laminate to the ends of the skis, and these make it so the ski minimizes vibrations and chatter, making for a smooth and quiet experience in any and all conditions and terrain. Best suited for intermediate and advanced skiers who love to cruise the whole mountain, the Volkl Blaze 86 is a surefire winner.
