Potter Brothers is a specialty ski and snowboard shop. We’ve been family owned and operated since 1945, giving us a rich 76-year history in the ski business. Since the beginning, our priority has been all about taking care of loyal customers and staff. As our business has grown, we’ve maintained a true vision on superior customer service and take pride in offering a great shopping experience in our stores.

Our History
Potter Brothers began as a small sporting goods store in uptown Kingston NY in 1945. At the time we were surrounded by several other stores of it’s kind. To survive, brothers Jack and Bud Potter focused on offering exceptional service and took the time to get to know their customers. As business took off, Potter Brothers expanded to Poughkeepsie and Glenham.

Right around 1967, Potter Brothers began to focus it’s efforts on the winter sports industry (skiing). At this time, 2nd generation cousins John and Dan Potter began to lead the business and continued to deliver the same specialized service their loyal customers came to expect. Expansion continued and Potter Brothers began operating a small ski shop located at Jiminy Peak Mountain Resort in Hancock, MA.

In 1995, Potter Brothers was ready to become a year-round business again and entered the Casual Furniture industry by offering high-quality Outdoor Patio Furniture. During this time, 3rd generation cousins Jake and Kyle Potter entered the business and enjoyed several years working under the watchful eyes of their fathers.

In 2005, as shopping habits changed, Potter Brothers launched an online business. Although we still sell online today, we have always preferred to work with our customers in-person and get to know them, just like we did in 1945.

In in 2011 we expanded North and took over the Ski Shop at Bromley Mountain in Vermont. Two years later in 2013, we took over a Ski Shop in Snowshed Lodge at Killington Resort.

Today, Potter Brothers continues to operate out of 5 location and remains focused on providing premium ski and snowboard gear backed by superior service from our staff. We welcome you to visit one of our locations and experience the difference a family-owned business can make.
